To develop the UK’s first consumer facing producer and produce traceability scheme to involve and connect all producers, intermediaries, retailers and consumers.
The platform must include a universal search; multiple membership consoles with differing payment processing and functions for each target audience. It must enable the visible networking of each user’s trading network, facilitating direct internal user messaging and ratings.
It must include purpose developed CRM and administrator console allowing for realtime client classification and category management and addition, and user profile control and editing.
It must be deploy ready for product traceability coding when a critical mass of producers have registered.
We steered the brief forwards working with a variety of stakeholders including producers, butchers, consumers and the University of Aberdeen. We oversaw the build and structure of all elements to a February 2016 launch.
Written in PHP 5.4, it is based on Laravel 4.2 Model-View-Controller framework and a large mysql database. For developing both frontend and backend applications we used quite a few open source libraries like jQuery and Bootstrap 3. We have also integrated HumHub, a free and open source social network software coded on Yii 2.0 framework – this will allow our users to better communicate and share information within the entire network.
Happerley is a project we have developed from seed idea and continue to work with the client towards its commercial success.
We will be implementing an ongoing process of continual improvement. We will be switching on Food traceability technology later in the 2016 and are developing a consumer app and bar code reader.
